Tuscan-Inspired Landscaping Design and Build for A Short-Term Rental in Glendale, CA

This space was designed for gathering, connection, and memory-making.

Our client came to us with a vision for their short-term rental: not just another place to book, but a place people would remember. They wanted a space where families could sit together, share meals, slow down, and actually feel something while they were there.

We designed the yard to center around that experience.

A custom natural log pergola anchors the space, casting warm, shifting light over a large communal dining table, inviting long dinners and conversation. Underfoot, a combination of paver patio and stamped, stained concrete walkways creates both structure and flow, guiding guests through different moments of the yard.

We layered in texture and warmth with a Trex deck, natural tan flagstone set within grass, and a balance of gravel, mulch, and greenery to soften the space. The lawn was intentionally kept open, giving room for kids to play, people to lounge, and the space to breathe.

Planting focused on both beauty and function: espalier fruit trees, native plantings, and a privacy hedge that creates a sense of retreat while still feeling open and connected.

As the sun sets, dimmable bistro lighting transforms the space, bringing a quiet, golden warmth that makes people want to stay just a little longer.

We also collaborated alongside other elements the client brought into the vision, helping integrate a future outdoor kitchen, fire pit, water feature, and shade structures, ensuring everything felt cohesive and intentional.

The result is a space that feels like Tuscany, natural, warm, and grounded, while fully supporting the way people actually live and gather.
