What was once a simple patch of dirt is now a stunning, welcoming outdoor retreat — a space designed for gathering, grounding, and celebrating life.

This South Pasadena family dreamed of turning their yard into a place where they could entertain friends, share meals, and unwind in nature. Over the course of three weeks and a $45,000 investment, that dream became a reality.

A Space Designed for Connection

The vision was simple: create a space that felt dust-free, safe, welcoming, fresh, and comfortable. The homeowner wanted a balance of function and beauty — a dining area, a dance floor, and an open space where guests could lay out picnic blankets and enjoy the sunshine.

Every element of the design supports that intention:

  • Paver patio: A solid foundation for dining and dancing
  • Lighting: Warm accent lights, downlights hanging from the trees, and gentle path lighting for evening ambiance
  • Raised garden bed & flower beds with mulch: Inviting color and texture that thrive in the Southern California climate
  • Decomposed granite patio with native plants: A sustainable, low-maintenance way to connect with nature
  • Pondless water fountain: The soft sound of running water draws everyone outdoors

Where Nature Meets Community

This family’s backyard isn’t just beautiful — it’s alive. The new water feature attracts birds and pollinators, and one of the homeowner’s favorite moments was spotting a monarch butterfly in her garden.

Now, evenings are spent gathered by the garden, listening to the birds, watching the sunset, and enjoying the tranquil rhythm of flowing water.

A Partnership Built on Trust

This project was a joy from start to finish. The clients were wonderful — they valued our crew, trusted our process, and truly appreciated the care that went into every detail. The result is more than just an outdoor renovation — it’s a space that reflects who they are and how they love to live.
